The Rother Valley in Sussex, England, is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the UK. Now, thanks to a handful of pioneering grape growers and winemakers, it’s now home to some of the UK’s finest wines too.
This site is dedicated to those wine producers who welcome you to visit their cellar door to explore the wines of the Rother Valley in this iconic setting.
Charles Palmer Vineyards
The vineyard sits just to the west of the medieval Cinque Port town of Winchelsea, steeped in wine trading history. This East Sussex coastal location just a mile from the sea provides a beneficial climate, having higher night time temperatures, reducing the risk of frosts and helping to ripen the grapes. The carefully chosen aspect of the slopes and the soil that the vines are planted in is perfect for growing these varieties of grapes.
We look forward to welcoming you to Charles Palmer Vineyards. You can come during our opening hours and purchase from our extensive range of sparkling and still wines. We also offer wine tastings in our cellar door and gift vouchers.
Oastbrook Estate is an idyllic English vineyard retreat deep in the heart of the now world famous vineyards of the Sussex countryside in southern England.
You’re welcome to visit, taste the exceptional wines, whilst enjoying a tour of the vines and a guided tasting, and even stay a while in their luxurious Hobbit House.
They accommodate small groups on private tours of the vines to help grow your interest in the ever expanding English wine scene. The guided tour will also explain the establishment of the vineyard and our future plans. We will finish, of course, with a wine tasting to try out the fruits of their labours.
Oxney is the largest single-estate producer of English organic wine. They don’t like to make a lot of noise. They prefer to concentrate our efforts on nurturing the grapes in our Soil Association certified organic East Sussex vineyard, then transforming them into beautifully expressive English sparkling and still wine. The results speak for themselves.
Come and see how they’re spearheading quality English organic wine. They open up the vineyard, the winery and several bottles of Oxney English sparkling and still wine on guided tours and tastings, every Saturday from April to November. You can also stay for an idyllic picnic lunch afterwards.
